FULL ITINERARY

Day 1 | Boat ride from Luang Prabang to Pakbeng

Steadily float down the mighty Mekong aboard a traditional river barge. prepare yourself for a great adventure Few people have had the opportunity to do this. You’ll stay overnight at Riverside Lodge in Pakbeng. A Laos Picnic Lunch will be served on board the Mekong cruise boat. refreshments are available aboard and this is a great time to get to know the biking Laos team and share stories with other travellers

Day 2 | Pakbeng – OUDOMXAY(70 km)

After a brief transfer by vehicle, we’ll be cycling in very rural Laos, an area inhabited by hill tribe villages who eke a meagre existence from the land. Along the way you will pass villages of Phu Thai, Thai Lu, Hmong, Thai Dam, Lao and Khamu. The people are engaging and not yet tired of seeing tourists. We stop at weaving villages along the way, where you still see families sitting in the shade weaving on old looms. After climbing a 300-meter pass, a long descent brings you to Oudomxay the capital of the Oudomxay Province.

Day 3 | Oudomxay - Nong KHIAW (70-110 km)

After a 1 hour uphill transfer, you will start cycling at an altitude of 1300 m. Enjoy the great views and the daily life in the Hmong villages dominating this region. A long descent will bring you to Pak Mong, where we will have lunch. From Pak Mong, you cycle over a small tar road into the karst, the scenic limestone mountains that surround Nong Khiaw. We stay overnight in a resort with fine views over the mountains and the Nam Ou River.

DAY 4 |100 waterfalls trek

Start the day with a boat ride on the Nam Ou to a small village where you can learn about the way of life along this river. Then trek through small streams and rice paddies to reach the base of the 100 waterfalls. For the next few hours, you will see only water and jungle and hear the sound of clear waterfall cascades. The pools around you are very inviting for a refreshing splash.

Our guide leads us through the cascades and prepares a local-style lunch on the falls in the middle of it all. Then take a small villagers’ trail from the top of the falls back down into the valley; along the way, you’ll take in views of the landscapes of the Nam Ou Valley.

Hiking back to the village, we’ll have more time to observe the daily life here before heading back by a small boat to Nong Khiaw.

Day 5 | Nong KHIAW - Luang Prabang (95 km)

Board a local-style long-tail boat for a 2-hour boat ride down the beautiful Nam Ou River before flatter and better roads enable you to complete the longer distance to Luang Prabang.  Only a few minor passes have to be climbed before you are riding along the banks of the Nam Ou River, with stunning views of huge mountain ranges. We will call at the famous Buddha Cave at Pak Ou and cycle The last stage takes us along the Mekong and through riverside handicraft villages, perfect for those last-minute souvenirs. we arrive in Luang Prabang over the old motorbike bridge at around 4-pm leaving plenty of time to enjoy the final sunset of our trip on the banks of river.
