RURAL Luang Prabang

DISTANCE: 60 kM CIRCUIT

This is our longest one-day cycling tour, and it takes you along four rivers on mixed paved and dirt paths out of the city and through countryside to Hmong and Khmu villages – all in one tour. You’ll ride along the Mekong, Xuang, Pa, and Khan Rivers through beautiful jungle with a crossing by local boat with your bike over the last. We’ll cover a lot of ground, have lunch in a local village, and climb some good hills before returning to Luang Prabang. This tour has been designed for fit cyclists wanting to ride a long distance to see a lot of countryside. 

 

FULL ITINERARY

Day 1 | A MOUNTAIN BIKING ADVENTURE THROUGH JUNGLE AND VILLAGES

Meet your local Lao guide early morning and size up on one of our quality mountain bikes. Warm up on paved roads as we start today’s ride heading north out of the city along the Mekong River.

You’re in for a great bike ride that will take you from the heart of Luang Prabang city into the outlying agricultural Hmong and Khmu villages surrounding the city and back. You’ll pass a diversity of people and lifestyles on this exhilarating and full mountain bike ride.  Stop anywhere along the way to explore local villages or to rest by the riverside.

Tour is approximately 65% paved, 35% dirt roads – great for bikers looking to see a lot of countryside on a good days ride.
